Testimonials

We have many dogs who choose to continue to come to Boroondara well after completing their 'Basic' training classes with us. We are very proud that our owners and their dogs choose to continue to come each Sunday - here's what some of our long term participants say about Boroondara Dog Training.

Condotti and Carmella

The photo shows succinctly Condotti's mood if we miss our Sunday morning dog classes!! It starts when Condotti jumps in the car on Sunday at 9am. He is serious, almost frowning. As I drive, he concentrates intensely on the road, then as we approach Hay’s paddock he starts quivering with excitement.

When we arrive, Condotti is ecstatic. He also puts on his best behaviour- almost as if he is attending formal lectures. He loves all the trainers and most of the dogs.

When we go for walks, I am constantly complimented by passers by on Condotti's gentlemanly behaviour. Why do we keep coming to classes? Some of my friends make fun of us - suggesting that Condotti is a slow learner. I prefer to regard the classes as the equivalent to a postgraduate course. I believe that each lesson consolidates the previous experience. Each lesson provides a challenge for me and the dog.

Undoubtedly, the venue is my attraction. As someone who spends most of the time indoors and sometimes does not see the light of day all week- I find Hay's paddock on a winter's morning magic. Who wants to sleep in? Seriously, the venue, the puppies and other dogs, the owners and trainers all provide an enjoyable and therapeutic environment.

Archie

My name is Archie. I'm a seven year old Jack Russell and I love going to training on a Sunday morning at Hays Paddock. I have been going there for six years now and it is the highlight of my week. I even know when it is Sunday and get very excited until we get in the car and arrive at the ground. All the equipment is set out ready for the agility course and I can have a practice there if I wish. However I like to say hello to all the other dogs first. I have lots of friends there. We have to listen carefully to our owner's cues and sit and drop and stay when they ask. I think this is fun, but I really don't like to drop on the wet grass so I try all sorts of ways to keep my tummy off the gorund.

Sometimes I have to go and see what is happening in the puppy classes but my owner doesn't like that and makes me come back, when all I really want to do is say hello. This is such an exciting event in my week that I am going to continue to come along on Sunday mornings until I am very old!
